Why God’s Law Still Matters: The Science Hidden in the Old Testament

Published on September 29, 2025 at 8:00 AM

As we enter the first full week of the blog being up, I figured I would lay some framework that would help guide this page. So many people are afraid of the Old Testament and use the whole “I am under the New Covenant” talk to negate the fact that they still need to read the whole book.

I believe this book we call The Bible is God-breathed from Genesis to Revelation. That means we’ll be spending a lot of our time going in and out of the entire book.

What better place to start than with the name of God, Yahweh, followed by the Ten Commandments? Over the next 10 blog days (I observe the Sabbath, so no post then), we’ll dive deep into hidden insights from the very first set of laws God gave.

The first set of tablets wasn’t written by man — they were carved by the very finger of God.

So keep coming back! And if you haven’t signed up for the newsletter yet, how else are you planning to keep up with what’s going on here?

The Science Hidden in the Old Testament

As we enter the first full week of this blog being up, I figured I would lay some framework that would help guide this page. So many people are afraid of the Old Testament and use the whole “I am under the New Covenant” talk to negate the fact that they still need to read the whole book.

But I believe this book we call the Bible is God-breathed from Genesis to Revelation. That means we’ll be spending a lot of time going in and out of the entire book.

And here’s the amazing part: when you slow down and really look at God’s commands, you find something stunning — science was hidden inside His laws all along.

🧪 Examples of God’s Wisdom in the Law

  • Health & Quarantine: Long before germ theory, Leviticus gave instructions for isolating the sick and washing with water. (Leviticus 13–15)

  • Circumcision on the 8th Day: Modern science shows vitamin K — necessary for blood clotting — peaks in newborns around day 8. (Genesis 17:12)

  • Food Laws: Avoiding pork and shellfish protected Israel from parasites and foodborne illness that ancient cultures couldn’t detect. (Leviticus 11)

  • Mixed Fabrics: The command against mixing linen and wool (Deuteronomy 22:11) aligns with studies on frequency/resonance — showing how God drew boundaries even into clothing that touched His priests.

  • Sanitation: Commands about burying waste outside the camp (Deuteronomy 23:12–14) prevented contamination centuries before modern plumbing.

🌍 Why It Still Matters

God wasn’t just handing down arbitrary rules. His law carried layers of spiritual, moral, and practical wisdom. What looked strange or restrictive to the nations around Israel was, in fact, life-preserving and ahead of its time.

The Old Testament reminds us: God’s commands are not burdens — they’re protection.

The simple ignorance of the “clanging cymbal” 1 Corinthians 13:1

The deeper truth is without wisdom, a person drifts into folly. God hides treasures of wisdom in His Word — and those who seek God says will find.

From the very beginning, after humanity fell, sin entered the world

The result: Every part of creation was affected — even our bodies. The human frame, once perfect, now carries decay; tiny defeats and random errors creep into our genetic code over time.

Many of the great scientific “discoveries” were already embedded in Scripture, waiting to be noticed

  • The unique frequencies of linen and wool (Leviticus 19:19)

  • The safety of circumcision on the eighth day (Genesis 17:12)

  • Sanitation, quarantine, blood as life, and more

But here’s the real kicker: God is so good, so infinitely wise, that He allowed that code to be traceable. Even in a fallen world, the fingerprint of His design remains. If someone truly wants truth, science itself can point back to the Creator. Question for truth seekers.  Which Old Testament law do you think hides the most surprising wisdom?

All of this leads us to the real question: What do we do with such wisdom?

Was the law discarded when Jesus gave His life, or was it fulfilled so that we might finally live it out by grace? Could it be that the enemy has twisted the truth once again, convincing us that God’s instructions were outdated — when in reality, they were always for our good?

The cross didn’t erase God’s wisdom; it revealed the depth of His love. Grace isn’t permission to ignore the Creator’s design — it’s the power to walk in it, with joy and freedom, instead of shame and fear.

So the choice remains: will we dismiss His Word as irrelevant, or will we humble ourselves and rediscover the treasures He hid for our healing, our protection, and our wholeness?

Grace invites us to more.
